Before you request a visit
- Note the appliance type, brand, and model number if it is easy to access.
- Describe the symptom and when it started.
- Write down any error code and take a photo of the display if useful.
- Share your ZIP code and preferred appointment times.
- Ask whether an assessment or visit charge applies.
Before the technician arrives
- Clear a safe route to the appliance and keep the work area accessible.
- Secure pets and keep children away from the work area.
- Have an adult available who can discuss and approve the estimate.
- Do not disassemble the appliance or move a heavy unit by yourself.
If there is smoke, sparking, a burning smell, or a gas odor, stop using the appliance. Leave the area if you feel unsafe and contact your utility or local emergency services as appropriate. Do not attempt electrical or gas repairs.
At the appointment
The technician can review the reported problem and explain an estimate. Ask what the estimate covers, whether parts or a return visit may cost extra, and what happens if the appliance cannot be repaired. Approve additional billable work only after the terms are clear.
These preparation notes are general. Follow any specific safety instructions given by the appliance manufacturer or qualified technician.
